The scorching heat waves coming in from the open window. Sofia drags her hand towel against her sweaty forehead. Fingertips burn as she tries to save her pot dish from overflowing. Sighs deeply, exhausted.

EXT-INT — KITCHEN — CONTINUOUS

He barges in:

“WHAT IS TAKING YOU SO LONG YOU INCOMPETENT EXCUSE OF A WIFE?”

SOFIA:

“Stop yelling, apnay zubaan ko sumbhalo. Yay khana jadoo say pait may nahi jata tumaray. I put effort into making it!”

- He slaps her across the face with his heavy hand –

She falls with illusion of being a WEIGHTLESS dummy bag.

HIM:

“YAY KHANA JO KHATY HO MERAY PAISOUN SAY ATA HAY JO MAY TUM PAY WASTE KURTA HOUN BUGHAIRAT!”

INT. BEDROOM — CONTINUOUS

- DRAGGED by the arm, out of the kitchen.

MID SHOT OF HER — Thrown on to the floor of the room

Tears creep down her soft pink cheek. Looking repulsed and INFURIATED he says:

“WHO SAID YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO TALK BACK TO ME! MAY TUJAY DIKHA TA HOUN!”

MUSIC FADES IN…

- Tears the belt of his pants –

CLOSE UP SHOT OF HIS HANDS — TIGHTENS his grip on belt with both hands. The look of DISMAY washes over her face as she prepares herself for what’s to come.

FADE OUT
