Day 216 –No Strawberry Moon- Haibun Journey View From My Window

From my window, I look out for the waxing moon that should be full tonight. I was hoping to see the June full moon, known as the strawberry moon, but it was too overcast. Farmers who still plant by the moon’s phases say it is the best time for planting potatoes. The moon gets its name from Native American Algonquians who observed that strawberries and fruits were ripening at this time of year. If you are in England you may know it as the rose moon. So tonight as I write there is no moonlight.
