Day 257 — Thundercake- Haibun Journey View From My Window

I awake to bright flashes of lightening coming through my window. I watch and listen to the distant thunder. After a flash I count to see how many miles away the storm is. This brings back memories of curling up with my daughter reading Thunder Cake by Patricia Polocco during many a storm. The book is about a girl afraid of thunder and her bravery at gathering the ingredients to make thunder cake before the storm arrives. Now another torrential rain is upon us but I am happy reminiscing over fond memories.
