Day 287 –Meteor Shower — Haibun Journey View From My Window

I stand at the darkened window searching the sky for a meteor from Perseus Meteor Shower. Finally my daughter is ready and we head outside for our annual ritual. We lie in the grass wrapped in a blanket watching the heavens for brilliants streaks of light, talking and laughing. Twice a year we’ve headed out for this ritual since she was 2 years old. The Leonids in mid November and Perseus around her August birthday. Last November she was away at college so watching the shower was not as fun. It made me savor this event tonight even more.

under heavens dome
we lie gazing at the stars
watching meteors

~~~
scanning the skies
we shout and point
at fading light sparks
