According to Lord Tennyson at least, in Spring a young (and old) person’s fancy turns to love (yes, I expanded on his thought just a bit). With 3 lines — 17 moras, in classic haiku form — share your perspective on love in bloom…but there’s a twist: read on!

To many of us, Spring brings renewed thoughts of love, and flowers and love are often interchangeable. Perhaps not for everybody, though! So tell us, in your best 5/7/5 syllables (classic haiku poetic form, no variations please), how you respond emotionally to flowers. And here’s the twist:

Tell us in two different ways, by swapping one line out! Share two versions of your haiku in the same submission, with just one line changed. They can be two ways of saying the same thing, or perhaps there’s a plot twist. Ever struggle between two words, nuances, or even two totally different endings? Now you don’t have to choose!

Here’s an example to start you off:

We can’t wait to read your submissions! (And don’t forget to uncheck that pesky metering checkbox, please.)
