In classic haiku form — 3 lines, 17 moras — tell us who “you are”

As poets, we find ways to reimagine and explain the people or things in our world by comparing them to seemingly unrelated things using similes, metaphors, and such. “She shone like the Northern Star” is so much more descriptive and appealing than “She shone brightly,” isn’t it? And, quite often, these comparisons help us to figure out who we are and how strongly we feel about something.

Tell us in three lines (or sets of three lines, each in classic 5–7–5 haiku form) your vision of “who or what you are” and why. We especially encourage you to compare yourself to something in the natural world, since nature and the seasons are at the heart of traditional haiku. Here’s a comparison to get you started:
