Strangers gathered here

Brows furrowed, buried in books

A bounty of worlds

Written and inspired by a visit to the NY Public Library, on 6 June 2019.

A week in New York and I spent the last day trying to finish an essay in the Rose Reading Room (as pictured above). I couldn’t. I wrote this haiku instead. It was one of the more beautiful reading rooms I have had the pleasure of writing in… all I could think of were the future books simultaneously being written in this very room, and a sense of satisfaction.
