The view from our bedroom window, earlier today. The jacarandas look gorgeous, but will I get to walk among them before they fade?

Cloaked in smoke, lungs rasp
and rattle, walls close in — we
dream of thunderstorms.

Well, Halloween has come and gone — but the bushfire haze still lingers on. It’s day four, and the smoke is yet to clear. Bushfires rage across the state, but here, in the heart of inner city Sydney, I’m hot and clammy, sunk
