The Impact of Morgan William’s shot that defeated the UConn W0men’s basketball team.
I started this blog and Twitter account to chronicle events, like Morgan William’s shot that shocked the world, and how this exposure translates into Followers and Social Brand awareness for Mississippi State’s Various Social Media Accounts, and also stories about these event and how they have an impact as well.
Mississippi State’s main Twitter account has over 115,550 followers currently on Twitter, and I wish there was a way to see how many it had before the shot, as I searched last night, but to no avail. The only statistic on follower growth I have for this Twitter account is that since the title game and this morning at 9:30 am, (around 12 hours) the Mississippi State main Twitter account has gained over 100 followers very respectable numbers to say the least, and on, the Twitter side of things we will document how many followers each MSU account has and post a weekly round up on how many followers each has gained.
Facebook on the other hand let’s you see just how many Likes the Mississippi State Page has gotten over the past week, and the total as of this morning is around 1,210 new Likes this week, but to really see the impact on Facebook really look no further than the official Women’s Basketball page as it gained 12,250 likes in the past week, as the account now has 35,000 Likes on Facebook.
This most important coverage however came for all major news sites, which covered the game, as Mississippi State ended UConn’s 111 game win streak. Know a major news site that didn’t cover the game? I’d love to hear it! This publicity is almost unmatched for Women’s basketball as all these articles from The Ringer , Sports Illustrated, ESPN, FiveThirtyEight, NYT, and many more are just what you want as an athletic department.
This YouTube of Morgan William’s shot has almost 50,000 views, but the most viewed video in relation to this game is this one of OT Highlights with over 125,000 Views.
