1. Protect your hair from UV rays

This can only be the first piece of advice! In order for your hair not to suffer sun damage, you need to protect both the hair shaft and the scalp. For the shaft, you can use an oil or spray to be distributed over the entire length of the hair. This creates an invisible but effective protective screen that can counteract the damage of sun exposure and reduce the likelihood of damaging your hair by keeping it super hydrated.

The same product must also reach the scalp, which is not made to be exposed to the sun and therefore could burn and experience more or less serious ailments. Exposing the head in an excessive way without any kind of protection can compromise the functionality of the hair bulbs, blocking their life process, causing hair to fall out and not always regrow. In fact, in addition to the application of lotions and solar sprays, it is a good habit to wear a cotton hat, preferably light-colored.

2. Rinse your hair with fresh water

Not only the sun can damage the health of the hair, but also the sea water or chlorine. So, it is important to always rinse your hair with fresh water after bathing and then apply the protective lotion or spray again.

3. Use a super moisturizing shampoo

Once you’re back home or at the hotel, you have to wash your hair to get rid of any residue left on the hair. Although each of us has specific preferences and needs for our hair, in the summer period it is advisable to use especially moisturizing shampoos containing all the ingredients known for their moisturizing properties. Regardless of what you choose to use, the important thing is to prefer products particularly suitable to prevent the formation of split ends, untangle the hair, give softness, body, volume and shine, and finally, contrast the odious frizz.

4. Apply a restructuring and moisturizing conditioner or mask

This step is a real nutrition booster that you should not shy away from. It is not necessary to apply it to every hair wash, but if you do, the chance that your hair will be treated in more depth is much higher, giving it the opportunity to receive additional pampering and treatment.

5. Dry your hair avoiding additional heat sources

To avoid further stress on the scalp and hair, you can take advantage of the long and hot summer days to dry your hair in the open air instead of using a hair dryer. Therefore, limit the use of hair dryers, flat irons, and curling irons during the summer season because your hair is already inevitably exposed to numerous sources of stress such as sunlight, salt, chlorine, and wind, and then adding the heat of certain styling tools could bring the strength of your hair to its knees.

However, if you can’t help but use a hair dryer, you should definitely use a good heat protector before drying. In this way, you can preserve the hair from thermal aggression and, at the same time, keep it hydrated, healthy, and shiny.

Although the lazy ones are already puffing, the good news is that simply by following this good hair-care routine, your hair can gain health without having to resort to scissors once the summer is over. Prevention is far more convenient than cure!
