If you’ve got curly hair, you already know that it takes a lot of extra care to really wear it like a jewel. Unlike straight and wavy hair types, curly hair people face many more challenges in their daily hair care routine. Curls are more easily broken, thinning at the ends, lacking growth, lacking shine and more prone to dryness. And a smooth combing can easily create a “haystack” effect. It requires more moisturising, attention and, if we’re honest, more patience than straight hair types. Fortunately, there are simple solutions for curly and wavy hair. And if you want to delve deeper into the secrets of innovative beauty care, take a look here!

Don’t be rough with your hair

If you rub your curls vigorously with a towel, you’ll end up with a big pile of tangles, so always be gentle with your hair when blow drying. Gently squeeze and then use the towel to wring out any excess water. Never rub your hair with it, as friction can cause breakage. As hair strands are most fragile when wet, be equally gentle when brushing wet hair. Try to comb out the ends of your hair in sections so that you don’t have to use too much force to untangle the knots.

How to properly wash curly hair

The most important principle: curly hair should be washed less often. Curly hair does not like excesses in any direction. Frequent washing weakens the curl and increases dryness because detergents rinse out the small amounts of sebum that are essential for maintaining the right moisture content. How often should curly hair be washed? No more than every two days. The optimum is two washes a week. Use products that add character! We know that girls with curly hair want soft, beautifully curved waves and hate it when their hair looks stiff or sticky. What’s the solution? Use lightweight styling products that leave your curls manageable and full of character, without leaving behind rough deposits or drying out your hair.

The stages of curly hair care

Deep hydration — the first step is to provide ingredients that bind water molecules inside the hair (hyaluronic acid, urea, panthenol, aloe or honey).

Regeneration and strengthening — the second stage consists of using products rich in essential substances such as silk, keratin, collagen, wheat, soy and milk proteins.

Carefully protected from moisture loss and damaging factors (such as low or high temperatures, sun exposure, etc.) thanks to emollients such as hair oils or silicones, this is the final stage of a proper curly hair care routine.

How to dry curly hair

You need to pay attention to drying and combing! For drying, the first and most important thing is to choose a curling product that suits your hair type. Never comb your hair dry! Before blow drying, only use a fine-tooth comb, which will already start to form the fall of the waves. Be sure to choose a blow dryer with a diffuser head. It’s best to blow dry with the head tilted downwards, gently kneading the hair with your fingers, which allows you to increase volume and accentuate curl. Always dry your hair on the lowest setting! This is the easiest way to keep your curls under control. After drying, reapply a special leave-in conditioner or hair oil.

Slowly with the curlers

Naturally, curly locks are beautiful but fragile. Curlers pull and stretch them well (not to mention when they get tangled in your hair and cause damage), so don’t twist them tightly into your hair. The hair-friendly solution is to put a little styling product on your fingers and dry-dry the curls. This way, you’ll damage the strands less, and your hair will be more manageable when you comb it.

Some practical advice

In addition, there are a few other things worth mentioning. It is best to wash curly hair with the head down — this method increases volume and makes it easy to comb through. Always remember to be gentle with the hair — neither tousling nor pulling the strands. The shampoo should also have a mild formula.
