Since people invented the soap and cleaness us, oily hair people, had not have the best time. Oily hair is hard to take care of and you might hear to not wash as often as you do. Do not wash and do what with that oily feeling in the hair. So my dearest reader no one but me can understand you better in this area so I just quickly wanted to give you some tips of how to take care of it better.

Causes of oily hair

The source of oil on the scalp is sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands under the skin. This oil is actually very important in regulating the pH level of the scalp and protecting the skin from bacteria and germs. Sebum moisturizes the scalp and supports the skin’s defense system. However, whenever oil production exceeds normal, that’s when problems arise. Excessive sebum causes problems such as hair loss or vitamin deficiency. Not to mention the psychological distress experienced by those who have to walk around with oily hair even though they wash their hair every day!

So then what should I do you might ask, and of course I shall give the answer! Even though this list looks like things you might already heard some of them it is pretty important and is proven by hair specialists.

  • Instead of high-fat fast food, you should choose vegetables, fruits, grains and similar healthy foods.
  • You should use heat-generating devices such as hair dryers, straighteners or curling irons as little as possible and try to keep them away from the roots of your hair.
  • You should choose a shampoo suitable for your hair. You should apply conditioner only to the ends of your hair and use styling products such as hair spray, mousse or gel as little as possible. If you are wondering what kind of shampoo you should choose to prevent hair from getting oily, the answer is here!
  • You should stop yourself when your hand goes to your hair during the day and try to comb your hair less. Preventing such contact will reduce oil production.
  • You should take care to take a bath with warm water. This way, you can prevent hot water from drying your hair and your scalp from producing more oil to moisturize your hair.
  • Wearing a hat all the time makes your hair oily. You should take care to let your hair roots breathe.
  • Applying the shampoo by massaging it into your hair roots and leaving it on for a minute or two also helps reduce oil production.
  • You should rinse your hair well and make sure that there are no shampoo or conditioner residues left in your hair.

Hair washing routine is very important in oily hair care as well. After doing this step do not forget to not listen to people who tells you to washing the hair more time creates more natural oil. However, at this point, trichologists, that is, scalp experts, have a different opinion. According to experts, for a healthy care routine, you should wash your hair at least every two days, and if you need to wash it more often to control oil, you should not hesitate to wash it every day.

Lastly you can made a homemade peeling for your hair that includes very essential ingredients such as rosemary, coriander, ground parsnip and thyme. It will make your hair grow a bit faster as well.

I hope some of this tips helped you in your haircare journey!

Sincerely,

Hoping for the cleanest hair…
