Prevent hair loss before it’s too late!
Hair loss is something that denotes aging. So if you are still young, you may want to keep all your hair in place. Hair loss is a common issue that may be annoying and in the worst case, worrying. It is always recommended to visit a dermatologist in case of illnesses or if it is happening too much. That is why, in this article, we show some easy ways to prevent this problem before it is too late. Remember that acting beforehand is always better than regretting it later.
Scalp massage
Believe it or not, a scalp massage is one of the easiest ways to prevent your hair from falling off. By giving a massage to your head, it promotes blood flow, that in return encourages hair to grow. Moreover, performing a gentle scalp massage using essential oils also provides extra benefits.
Now, talking about oils, you may have heard about this common care method, since it is the most used. It is true that coconut oil boosts hair growth and repairs your hair, however, it is not the only one that lends a hand to it. It is always good and recommendable to have more options in case the first option is not suiting you well.
Natural oils
Some recent studies show that rosemary oil improves scalp health by also increasing blood flow. This is really important because a healthy scalp is necessary for hair growth. On the other hand, peppermint oil stimulates, as well, circulation and helps treat thinning hair. Finally, according to a research from 2011, other natural oils that people use for hair growth include: cedarwood, lavender, holy basil and thyme.
Mild Shampoo
Most of the times when we do grocery shopping and pick a shampoo, we focus on its smell rather than the type of hair it is made for. The purpose of shampoo is to cleanse your hair of dirt and excess oil. Yet over-washing it can potentially harm your scalp. It is well known that these kinds of products are made of sulfates and some other ingredients that have been linked to frizz, scalp dryness, and fragile hair. That is why you should always be careful when choosing your hair cleanser. There is no evidence that any specific ingredients in shampoo cause hair loss, but they might contribute to less than ideal hair health. If your hair is overly dry or frizzy, try a shampoo that is as close to all-natural as possible.
Use a soft brush made of natural fibers
Brushing your hair is always an essential part of your daily routine. But, is your brush good enough to do it? Using a soft brush with fibers that are natural can potentially promote healthy oil levels on your hair. The keratin proteins in your hair are stacked like shingles on a roof, so brushing them gently in one direction, starting at the top and continuing through to the ends, can help smooth and condition your hair cuticle. Brushing hair daily can also help you avoid seeing hair clumps in your shower drain.
Avoid chemically treating or bleaching your hair
Changing the way you look is always exciting but challenging. We always have high expectations about the final look but we tend to ignore the consequences of the process that involve manipulating your hair as a whole. Chemically treating hair with methods, such as bleaching, damages it by splitting protein molecules called keratin. If you are concerned about hair loss, it is better to limit your use of dyes, highlights, peroxide treatments, and permanents.
Sleep correctly
Going to bed is probably the best part of the day. There is nothing like a goodnight sleep after completing a day full of activities. Still, you should be aware of the way your hair feels when doing so. Surprisingly enough, a silk or satin pillowcase can help prevent hair breakage caused by friction, tangling, and tugging during the night. Also, and most importantly, going to sleep with wet hair weakens the strands and also causes breakage. Always remember that when hair is wet, it finds itself in a vulnerable state.
Minoxidil
Minoxidil is an “at-home treatment” for hair loss that offers convenience, since it can be bought without a prescription. Studies show that it helps early hair loss, nevertheless, it cannot regrow an entire head of hair. It is recommended to apply it once or twice a day.
Furthermore, it stimulates hair growth and prevents further hair loss. Minoxidil tends to be more effective when used along with another treatment.
Many people see some regrowth when using minoxidil, but it takes about 6 to 12 months to see results. Should you see regrowth, you will need to keep using it every day. As with any treatment, if you stop applying it, you lose its benefits, since minoxidil helps you maintain your hair’s thickness. Some consequences of ending the use of it may result in some hairs looking and feeling thinner or the frequent shedding of it.
