DAY 2

I take #STYLISTSSUPPORTINGSTYLISTS seriously.

We are all extremely different individuals, however, as a community of artists, we all fundamentally experience more or less of the same situations while behind the chair, only with different people and obviously in various parts of the world.

It’s one of the reasons I started a community to begin with.

Gone are the days of suffering in silence and being embarrassed by bully hairstylists or psycho clients and not knowing where to turn to for assistance.

Yes, we must deal with all of them in a professional way, and I will not have all the answers to all the problems but that is why I started a Tribe, so we can band together and support in anyway we can including answering others’ questions.

I want to encourage you all to share your experiences, stories or situations you have been through, because I can promise you this, out of the thousands of stylists online, there is at least one who could use your advice…

…In real time — right now!

How do you do that?

Sharing is caring.

Document your journey.

Share your thoughts and ideas, comments and questions, and interact and grow.

Everyone feels overwhelmed by social media once in a while and the whole point of this rant is to get you to take action and learn more about it so you don’t have to feel overwhelm.

It’s important to focus on the things you CAN control including HOW you spend time on social media.

It’s okay not to do what someone famous in our industry is doing.

It’s okay to copy them as well if that’s your cup of tea.

Try things!

But whatever you do, don’t watch others, be jealous of them then continue to watch them.

Turn them off!

Go and do you!

Take those moments you feel boredom, thumbing your way up and down the Instagram feed and try to learn or do ONE productive thing.

It doesn’t matter who sees it or who doesn’t.

Every decision is a choice.

Choose to ask questions and to get involved and to learn and to then teach others.

Choose to take control of your emotions by steering your ACTIONS in the right direction.

Choose yourself first and be okay with it.

Be okay that you control yourself and nobody else.

That’s how you get rid of the overwhelm of feeling like you have to be anyone other than yourself.

Until next time,

Melissa.
