Meet HAIVE !
Decades ago, our parents had a special entertainment called as ‘pen pal’, through which people could communicate with utter strangers across the seas. With those handwritten letters in foreign language (even it couldn’t be that fluent), they could feel and learn foreign cultures. Of course, improvement of language skills were great bonus by it.
Understandably, the penetration of Internet has made us to forget the letter-based pen pal cultures. But the curiosity about foreigners and foreign cultures, the happiness from the kindness towards strangers and the sense of accomplishment by communicating in foreign language might not be disappeared. On the contrary, with the improvement of the quality of life, more people spend less time on the issue for survival and started to pursue higher values like those stated above.
HAIVE is a global community for those people. It is a playground in which people can bump into fascinating foreigners and communicate in foreign languages. It’s not like typical social network nor traditional language education service.
Also, HAIVE is a modern reinterpretation of pen pal. On the mobile screen instead of letter paper, we exchange videos instead of pen writings. Our daily life stories in the short clips become the way of entertainment and a live language dialog at the same time. Native text, translations and explanation for words are generated instantly by the combination of A.I. and crowd contributions.
HAIVE offers free service for everyone. In terms of education, this means even poor students from the third world countries also can receive high-quality language learning materials for free only if they have inexpensive smart phones. They even can contribute to HAIVE community by making contents in their native language and get rewards. Language talent sharing economy and dialog-embedded Ad system enables it. HAIVE is an experiment for replacing the “expensive and ineffective language learning businesses” which are very prevalent in almost all countries.
