The New CDC Guidelines are Ridiculous and Short-Sighted

Once again, it’s low-wage workers that are taking the brunt of pandemic denial (+ much more).

Like many people in the United States, I was bewildered last week when I saw that we’re no longer required to wear masks if we’re vaccinated.

I’ve been keeping up with the research as best I can, and the recommendation from last month seemed aligned, safe. I also dug the easy-to-remember mandate — 2 out of 3: masking, social distance, and/or outdoors — as there is an intense amount of crucial information at hand right now, pandemic info as well as from the plethora of affected communities pleading for change.

Like so many people, since the crisis started I’ve been coping by trying to focus on the efforts to make things better; ways people are using the information revealed by this pandemic to help create constructive change, the way national conversations have become more real and change-oriented, shifts in perception around toxic norms, etc. Signs of positive changes have been an encouraging light in times when it can be hard to have faith.

So, the ongoing barrage of cruel behavior masquerading as “freedom,” like below, can really throw off one’s general faith in humanity.
