Day two and it started off with a little swim. Our hotel has a rooftop pool and its the first time that I have ever been in a pool and welcomed the refreshing chill of the water. It was already 30°C and it was only 8am!

The plan originally was to have a quiet day, ease our way into Singapore, but we looked at the forecast for the week and decided it being a weekday and a good forecast, we should go to Universal Studios Singapore on Sentosa. With the Singapore Stopover holiday and having booked it in New Zealand, we had passes into the park included and additional discount vouchers on meals and merchandise.

We got in and did a movie set experience, which was pretty cool, and got splashed with a little water. Then it was on to the rollercoasters.

These were two duelling rollercoasters, with a Battlestar Galactica theme, Humans vs Cyclon. All the meant was annoying videos playing over and over and annoying us while we waited 45 minutes in the queue. The first one, the red one, was a seated rollercoaster and was pretty bad for me, but then the second one, the suspended rollercoaster, freaked the shit out of me! It had inverted loops and upside down five times, and I was screaming the whole time. Edd found it funny. I came off a bit breatheless and a little shaken but I survived! We went on a teacups ride next, which was decidely a lot less excitement filled.

Another rollercoaster was the Mummy ride. It was an indoors and dark rollercoaster, hurtling through with little light. That itself was pretty freaky, not knowing which way you were going, and seeing only flashes of the track. The whole ride though was great, including the queue which was probably the best themed queue we were in at Universal.

We did a Transformers ride which was amazing. It incorporated 3D and and the ride and it was fantastic, as you felt all the motion and felt you were hurtling along the streets, being attacked by the various Transformers. It was great and really clever at how it was done. One of the best experiences I’ve had.

And then there was the Jurassic Park section! We did a canopy ride thing that was a disappointment considering the hour wait we had, probably the only one we had really. But then we did the rapids ride and that was great. The theming again was awesome, and the ride was good, lot of suspense and buildup, and you got wet, though luckily we we just in the right part of the raft that didn’t get soaked head to toe! Though I suppose it didn’t matter considering the heat and how quickly we would have dried anyway.

And then as we left, we saw the raptors in the cage, something that was quite small but it just lifted that experience. Hearing the banging (which made so many people jump), its squeals, and its movement just was cool. There were little things like this throughout the park, too many to mention, that just made the experience fun and made us feel like a child again, which is always great.

All in all , it was an awesome day, the first full day of enjoying not just Singapore but this entire trip. If every day was like today, it will be amazing, and I am looking forward to it all the way!
