Techie Struggles To Rationalize Calling Uber To Shuttle Stop
OUTER SUNSET, SAN FRANCISCO — With his finger hovering over the “Request” button, techie Vishesh Ghose struggled to rationalize calling an Uber to his local tech shuttle stop.
Mr. Ghose, a product manager at Facebook, takes a luxury company shuttle to work every day like many other tech employees, where he has access to free wifi and comfy seats without the hassles of taking public transportation down the peninsula. Unfortunately, he lives in the Sunset and the closest shuttle stop is a mile away from his house. “It’s just so far! It takes like 20 minutes for me to walk there, there’s a hill in between, and the Muni is always packed with people,” he said.
“On one hand, if I call a car, my friends will make fun of me for being bougie. Like, I’d just be fulfilling the techie stereotype,” mused Mr. Ghose, who regularly wears a Google Glass. “On the other hand, it’s kind of cold outside.”
After a few more minutes of deliberation, Mr. Ghose reportedly compromised by calling an Uber Pool instead.
