We’re excited to announce our investment in Firefly. We were introduced to Firefly co-founder and CEO, Ido Neeman, by our dear friend and rockstar entrepreneur Zohar Alon, who acts as their Chairman. From our very first meeting with the founders, we understood that we were speaking with people we want to work with — people who bring to the table great character, intellect, and execution.

A No-Brainer For the Future of Cloud

As organizations of all sizes rapidly adopt cloud infrastructure and tools, they begin to feel the strain of severely fragmented cloud environments with implications for their development velocity (time-to-production), their security posture, and their scalability (reliability + governance).

Today, organizations suffering from these growing pains rely on a patchwork of cloud asset inventory managers, cloud governance solutions, and IaC (infrastructure as code). As such, DevOps teams and broader development orgs struggle to manage their cloud environments.

While IaC is meant to aid in codifying and streamlining cloud infrastructure, most orgs today operate an environment that is multi-cloud, multi-IaC, and supported by Kubernetes (increasing complexity even further).

Firefly offers an IaC-based Cloud Asset Management platform that helps organizations (especially DevOps & SRE teams) to:

  • Discover: Gain full visibility into your multi-cloud, multi-account, and k8s inventory
  • Codify: Automatically transform any unmanaged assets into a myriad of IaC (empowering DevOps teams and boosting efficiency)
  • Control: Maintain your cloud environment’s desired state, enforce policies, predict/triage deployment issues (reduce failure risk, deploy faster, ensure control)

In discussions with customers and free-tier users, we came to understand that many DevOps and cloud infrastructure leaders see Firefly as a critically empowering tool for DevOps teams that allows all team members (regardless of skill level or seniority) to be able to solve issues, abide by best-practices and deploy faster. In essence, these same stakeholders see Firefly as a business-driver that improves development velocity and reliability.

In a world in which there is a massive deficit in DevOps professionals, Firefly’s solution becomes mission-critical. (There are currently 58,000 open DevOps positions in the US alone!)

A “Get Sh*t Done” Attitude

One of the things we love most about this founding team is their relentless approach to building and “testing in the wild”. The company has moved quickly (under 12 months) to build a robust and feature-rich solution with a cohort of strong, tier-1 customers and design partners.

In our discussions with existing customers and 9 other prospective customers to whom we made introductions, the overwhelming majority of responses were very positive and receptive towards piloting the solution. This kind of early positive reinforcement from the market is rare — very rare.

Furthermore, watching co-founders Ido Neeman, Eran Bibi, and Sefi Genis tag-team effortlessly in customer calls was an absolute pleasure.

Lucky To Work With Friends

While venture capital can at times be a lonely business, we relish working with great friends like Zohar Alon and the Vertex Ventures team (shout out to Aviad Ariel and Tami Bronner!), who welcomed us on this journey with open arms.

We’re excited to work with Ido, Eran, Sefi, and our stellar co-investors and can’t wait to see the team achieve wonderful things!
