From Web3 to Web4

Hana Network is Hypercasual Finance with social network effects

Unlike CEX, Hypercasual Finance has the following features:

  • User-driven distribution on social networks such as Twitter, TikTok, and more
  • Casually earning rewards such as attention incentive, social tipping, P2P funding
  • Entertaining interface for new comers

Until now, CEX have brought a one-way, passive experience where users just own and earn from assets. However, Hypercasual Finance creates touchpoints in an open social network and brings an interactive onboarding experience. This means the barriers between crypto and everyday life will come down. In the Web4 era, where users “act” and “give” to create new distribution models, Hypercasual Finance will replace the existing CEX.

What is Web4?

First, let’s take a look at how the internet and blockchain have evolved to understand what Web4 is all about. The changes we saw when the internet moved from Web1 to Web2 are kind of like what we can expect as blockchain shifts from Web3 to Web4.

The key words of Web4 are “Interactive,” “Mobile UX,” and “Real Time.”

Let us now explore each of these three aspects in detail.

①Passive → Interacitive

In the early days of Web1, users could only “Read” information and were passive. However, with the rise of social media in Web2, users became interactive, allowing them to not only read but also “write” content.

On the other hand, Web3 added “own” to this dynamic. People began utilizing blockchain technology to own assets. Nonetheless, “own” remains a passive activity, akin to merely “read” on the internet. In Web 4, it is essential for users to become more interactive. User interactions will create a new viral distribution and boost network effects even more.

②Primitive protocol → Retail app

In Web1, innovations in technology focused on the core infrastructure of the internet, and the basic interface was primarily the PC. However, with the rise of mobile distribution in Web2, there was a renaissance of user-interface applications. The core technologies became less noticeable to users.

In contrast, Web3 has primarily focused on the innovation of infrastructure, with a user experience centered around desktop users. In Web4, we’re going to see a ton of mobile apps that mix retail-focused UX with mobile social. Existing infrastructure technologies and DeFi components will likely become bundled together.

③Asynchronous→Synchronous(Real Time)

In Web1, people mainly communicated asynchronously by sending emails and checking out static sites. But in Web2, we saw a shift to more real-time interaction with platforms like Instagram and TikTok Live, where users could watch live streams and engage with each other.

In Web3, though, a lot of communication still happens in closed forums, discussing protocol updates in an asynchronous way. Looking ahead to Web4, we’ll likely see users giving each other real-time feedback and gifts much more often. For example, within meme coin communities, real-time communication is starting to develop. There’s a huge opportunity for new ways to communicate.

Our mission is to onboard nominees through user-driven distribution, serving as the gateway instead of CEX in the Web4 era.

Mainnet Phase 1 will begin with the Hypercasual Card Lego, Hanafuda.

In Hanafuda, users can earn points and special tickets while playing Card Lego, which will spark some unique social interactions.

The experience we bring is definitely different from what existing CEX brings.

Our unique points are associated with the three characteristics of Web4: “Interactive,” “Mobile UX,” and “Real-Time.”

P2P network effects

CEX often have limited distribution channels, so most nominees do not even have the opportunity to have CEX accounts. In contrast, Hana Network utilizes various Web2 social networks such as Twitter, Telegram, Discord, and TikTok as entry points, enabling viral dissemination.

For instance, users can “give” by tipping each other, work together in card games during team matches, and interact in a fun, viral way in an open social space. As interactive positive feedback develops, network effects will expand significantly.

Blockchain’s P2P transfers and communication will thrive when paired with the network effects from social platforms.

This phenomenon of viral network effects has also been observed in Fantasy Top.

In Fantasy Top, users first acquire KOL cards. The value of those cards changes based on the attention and actions of KOLs on Twitter. Therefore, users actively engage with KOLs to increase their card values.

The viral attention created by Fantasy Top has had a significant impact, even altering social fabric on Crypto Twitter.

Hyper-casual onboarding

Existing CEX often require KYC registration and some upfront costs, resulting in a cumbersome onboarding process and relatively high barriers. Furthermore, their interfaces are frequently cluttered with unfamiliar terminology and an overwhelming number of buttons, making them exclusive to the most nominees.

In contrast, Hypercasual Finance is specifically designed for intuitive social mobile interactions. For instance, it offers entertainment that smoothly brings in social media users, along with trustless P2P on/off ramps and tipping without needing an on-ramp.

Hypercasual Finance is clearly essential not only for whales but also for the youth in developing countries. Rather than focusing on total value locked (TVL), we should prioritize user numbers as the main driver of network effects.

Real Time communication

Interactions will become more Real-time. For instance, what might happen?

The card legos you can play change rapidly, sparking competition among users. Plus, a lot of players will team up to battle it out.

With the live streams created in Hana ecosystem, we might see some wild broadcasting scenes that you wouldn’t normally find in traditional channels

In the Web3 era, CEX provided one-way distribution through specific media, resulting in a passive experience whare users just “own” assets.

Moving into the Web4 era, users will engage on platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and beyond, actively constructing their own distribution.

We aspire to be pioneers in the Web4 era.

Team Story

We have been addressing the challenges of user experience with various approaches to onboard Next 1 billion users. In January 2024, we launched Hana Gateway, the trustless on/off ramp platform. After the launch, we hit over 200,000 users, and within the community we saw a ton of P2P communication. However, this communication was somewhat closed, and the network effects were limited. Consequently, we decided to focus on user-driven distribution by taking advantage of the existing open social network effects to really leverage the P2P network at the heart of blockchain.

The collaboration between Hypercasual Finance and users has the potential to introduce chaos into the attention economy. Let’s look back at the phenomena after our launch.

Road map

Our story is still in its early stages, and we will gradually work towards realizing the world of Web4.

The upcoming mainnet will be divided into 4 major phases. First, Mainnet Phase 1 will begin with Hanafuda. New experiences will be added progressively from there.

  • Phase 1: Play Card Legos
  • Phase 2: Join a new Club
  • Phase 3: Accelerate Real-Time Communication
  • Phase 4: Connect to the Real world
