Do you ever have various worries in life that prohibit you from focusing on your daily responsibilities? Do you ever feel like you are stuck because you don’t know what to do?

There was a moment in my life when I felt stuck and didn’t know what I could do to keep on going forth. I was going through a lot of stressful situations from familial, to friendship, to academic, and work. There were so many things going on simultaneously. My mind was filled with all these concerns which prohibited me from focusing on my daily responsibilities — I felt like I was going crazy. I was determined to change my mindset and decided that I want to wake up every day and choose to live positively with happiness. At the time, an acquaintance of mine suggested I check out Mel Robbins. I searched her on Instagram, and there was one post that immediately stood out to me and has stuck with me ever since — it is the 7 Rules of Life.

These are the 7 rules of life that I like to constantly remind myself of whenever I feel stuck in life. If I want to continue traveling on my journey to achieve my goals, I want to make sure that I maintain my inner peace while doing so. I feel out of control and lost in life when I don’t maintain my inner peace — it gives me major anxiety and stress. When you find peace within yourself, it will eliminate a lot of negative thoughts and feelings.

“A state of inner peace eliminates anxieties, fears and worries. It also removes negative thoughts, stress, lack of satisfaction and unhappiness. It is a state of emotional and mental poise, happiness, confidence and inner strength.” — Remez Sasson (20 Reasons Why You Need Inner Peace and Tranquility)

There will always be ups and downs in life, but it is all about how you react to each situation. I have learned to let certain things go if I know I cannot control them. Someone once taught me to write down a list of things that are weighing on my mind. I was to go down the list and ask myself whether it was something I can control or not. If I cannot control it, then cross it off my list. If I can control it, then write down what the solutions are and what steps I can take to overcome them. Putting all my worries and concerns onto paper, and identifying what I can and cannot control, helped me organize my thoughts and feelings. It took a huge weight off my mind knowing that I can focus only on the controllable and let the uncontrollable work out itself. There is no reason to waste your mental energy on trying to control the uncontrollable. Most importantly, this taught me to learn to face situations calmly with an open mind and patience.

It is okay to be quick to lose your inner peace, as long as you know how to identify your worries and learn to let go of what you can’t control, then you will be able to find your balance again. Learn to control your emotions and be calm when you face imbalance in life. Find your inner peace.

“Self-control is strength. Calmness is mastery. You have to get to a point where your mood doesn’t change based on the insignificant actions of someone else. Don’t allow others to control the direction of your life. Don’t allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence.” — Unknown
