This publication will be a place for constrained writing and wordplay.

Constrained Writing

The word ‘constraint’ can be used for a broad list of poetic concepts. However “Constrained Writing” usually refers to a much narrower subset. It is different from Form Poetry.

Sonnets, Villanelles, Haiku, Limericks, and other poetry forms have constraints based on meter, rhyme, repetition, and syllabic count. Meeting these requirements can be challenging, but the writer is not constrained on word choice, beyond the rules of meter and syllables. Constrained writing, which isn’t always poetry, constrains word choice, often to an extreme.
