F*N Adulting Like a Boss
We are down to one car. Problems with mechanics taking advantage. Childcare bills for two kids. Medical bills. Problems with insurance being incompetent. Crazy kiddos we love deeply. Jobs we are thankful for but are truly testing our capacity limits. Getting up early to catch the bus. Getting home late — because the grind is real. Our kids growing up and being raised by daycare right in front of your eyes. The challenges around budgeting for Christmas gifts, food, a cup of coffee every once in awhile. Paying for rent. Doing the dishes. Doing the laundry. Paying for carpet cleaning because your kids just love to pee and sh*t on the carpet (as the monstrous little titans they are).
We know where you are right now. This image from SUPERBAD just about sums it up. Eyes popped, lips ready to release the infamous four letter word every parent tries to keep from their kids.
Affirmation: We Cry.
On the verge of breaking. Crying in bed together. Wondering if other people have the same problems. Constantly battling the feeling of your life belonging to someone else and not yourself.
Asking questions like,
“Is this what everyone else goes through? Are other families feeling this pressure? Every time you feel you’ve reached the light, does the tunnel get longer for you too?”
Feeling like your life isn’t your’s — it’s the systems.
Affirmation: We know where you’re at … and we are in it with you… we know what it’s like to feel out of your mind.
Comparing yourself to other families. Are they as put together as their Christmas card looks? Is it just us? Are we loved and supported? Why do we feel so alone and off on an island and isolated when so many wonderful people are in our lives?
Affirmation: You are normal.
Our message to you … hang on — be true to the hand you hold, you are normal, you aren’t alone … a message for the men — don’t try to fix — just listen … a message for the women — let it all out … Have a moment together even if it’s a hug in the morning where you can say,
“This 30 seconds is our’s and nobody elses.”
