There’s a ton of cool shit to do in NYC, probably too much. So we made it easy for you by finding the 8 GREAT goings ons this weekend.

We’ll start mainstream and end up pretty weird. Ready?

#1 Oktoberfest

When: Friday Oct 5 — Sunday Oct 7

Where: LES

Price: Between Free and $28

If you’re from Germany or somewhere around there then you probably know that Oktoberfest actually runs mostly in September. Why?

The historical background: the first Oktoberfest was held in the year 1810 in honor of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities began on October 12, 1810 and ended on October 17 with a horse race. In the following years, the celebrations were repeated and, later, the festival was prolonged and moved to September. (Oktoberfest.de)

Bet you didn’t expect to learn some history today eh? Anyway, New York has some killer Oktoberfest parties that are ACTUALLY IN OCTOBER. Our 2 favorites are the free Oktoberfest NYC party and the Zum Schneider Tent on the East River ($28).

#2 Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival

When: Wednesday Oct 3— Saturday 10/6

Where: All over Brooklyn

Price: $45–$85 for full day pass, $20–30 for individual shows

The BEMF (Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival or Bad Ess Motha Fucka) runs shows in clubs all around Brooklyn, spots like House of Yes, Ouput, and Good Room. We don’t recognize any of the performers but it’s electronic music so it doesn’t really matter right? Here’s our made up promo: “

DJ Seinfeld puffs your shirt while the Motor City Drum Ensemble puts the ROI in Detroit. Well worth the $”

#3 NYC Pizza Festival

When: Saturday Oct 6— Sunday Oct 7

Where: Little Italy in the Bronx

Price: Varies, $25 for 3 slices, $35 for 6

There’s an age old saying: “Opinions about which NYC pizza is the best are like assholes, everyone’s got one and they rarely end up tasting good”

But now you don’t have to listen to anyone’s opinions anymore! NYC Pizza Fest has 30+pizza stations.

#4 Cosplay Booze Cruise

When: Friday Oct 5 @ 9PM

Price: $35

Where: Pier 83 on 42nd and the West Side Highway

Thus begins our descent into some of the stranger things (shoutout to stranger things, season 1 was good — throw us a sponsorship).

If you didn’t get a ticket to Comic Con yet you’re probably outta luck. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t still dress up like the Fullmetal Alchemist and party. This cruise hosted by CEG Presents is a 3 hour wild ride that has a DJ and full bar on board. We recommend pregaming near the river at sunset.

#5 Blood Manor

When: All through October

Where: Tribeca

Price: $35

When you hear Blood Manor you usually picture something relaxing like a brunch spot but to everyone’s surprise Blood Manor is actually a Haunted House. We haven’t been there ourselves but our friend Matt said he almost shit himself which means he probably did shit himself.

#6 Watch People Dress Up As Japanese Monsters and Do Battel

When: Sunday October 7 @ 2PM

Where: The Bell House in Brooklyn, near Red Hook

Price: $15

The title pretty much sums it up, but in case you need more deets, adults get into full body monster costumes and box each other. It’s like when you were younger and you used to trap ants and beetles and then make them fight each other, except much bigger.

This is a fetish in some places

#7 Nightmare Machine

When: All through October

Where: Williamsburg

Price: $38

According to their website the Nightmare Machine is “a blend between a haunted house a social media pop ups”. Translation: it’s an interactive exhibit where you take Instagram pics. Our nightmares consist of giving a naked speech in high school while all of our grandparents are there, but that’s probably different than what you’ll see here. Check out their Instagram for pics of the exhibits: https://www.instagram.com/inthedreammachine/

#8 Stephen King Literary Erotic Fan Fiction Competition

When: October 6 @ 8:30PM

Where: Shop Studios near the Javitz Center

Price: $20

Finally! The best thing on the list. An official Comic Con event features 7 esteemed writers penning fan fiction about 6 of Stephen Kings most famous stories. The stories are then read aloud and voted on by the crowd. If you’re a king fan or a fan of anything erotic this is a must do.

Bonus: #9 Questival

When: Friday Oct 5th @ 4:30PM

Price: $48

It’s a bit late but we figured if you’re really looking for something awesome to do tonight this could be it. Questival is a 24 hour adventure race competition. You can sign up now as a free agent and join a team. It’s a great time and a great name. And they throw a launch party and closing ceremonies party too.

Double Bonus Sports Edition #10: YANKS VS. SOX GAMES 1 & 2

When: Game 1 — Friday Oct 5 @ 7:32PM, Game 2 — Saturday Oct 6 @ 8:15PM

These games are gonna be wild. Go to literally any bar in NYC and the games will be on. We recommend 13th step as a good choice unless you’re rooting for Boston.
