The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Muine Bay – East coast, central Vietnam 🇻🇳

The good: yesterday we went on a Jeep trip. This was apparently the best way to see the white sand dunes, the fairy stream, fishing village and the red sand dunes for sunset.

We headed out stopping first at the fairy stream.

The Bad: these guys were telling people they needed to leave their shoes here and collect them when they got back. The catch, you had to pay for the privilege of having them ‘looked after ‘.

The ugly: up until this point I have deliberately left out shots of the pollution but I think it needs to be shown what one of their potentially most beautiful tourist spots has become. :(

Back to the good though, we wandered up the super warm stream wending our way through the jungle and the sand cliffs on each side. There were many opportunities for industry and the locals are making the most of the tourist trade.

When we found the waterfall at the end Liam decided a cool off was in order.

Next stop would have been the fishing village except that we had already been there. That was the spot of my fateful crayfish experience. Photos look all good, follow up not so much, but all better now.

Up next was the white sand dunes. These are one of the only sets of sand dunes in the world where the dunes meet the vegetation. They are on the side of lakes and seem to go on for miles. We opted for the quad bike option, they don’t go fast but we certainly had some fun. Even Liam had a little go at driving but spent most of the time on the back of mine.

Last stop was the red sand dunes in time for the sunset. The contrast to the white dunes is incredible. The photos don’t do them justice but the colour is like some of the sand and rock you see in Australia.

We returned to the resort absolutely covered in fine red sand so jumped straight in the pool before heading out for dinner.

Today was our last full day at the resort. We decided a lazy day was in order, some swimming, reading, eating and more swimming.

Sad moment today was the walk along the beach . All looked good in front of our resort, some rubbish between our resort and the next, then in the long stretch where there are no resorts the rubbish was so bad I had to walk just above the water line so as not to stand on anything. Turns out the staff clean up in front of heir own resort and no further.

😢

Tonight we sadly returned the scooter that we had hired. We have all become rather attached to it.

Scooter of the day is the cutest baby sitting on his wicker chair in the front of the scooter with Dad as he said goodbye to Mum who was working.

Finishing shots, some night shots of the resort. A primo place to stay.

We have had some problems with uploading photos so will add a blog post with just pics at some stage.
