Lifehack tip #08: Upgrade your morning cup of joe with a load of fat!

Today we’re going to talk about how you can fuel your brain by adding healthy fats into your morning cup of coffee!

This lifehack is actually quite straightforward: Replace sugar with healthy fats.

Refined sugar is not only just as unhealthy for you as alcohol, it has a very high glycemic index, meaning that it rapidly converts to Glucose, a source of fuel for your body and brain. When such a rapid conversion takes place, you get a very immediate buzz and boost in energy, followed by a crash, which is the opposite of what you want.

On the other hand, healthy fats such as coconut oil, raw grass fed butter, ghee, almond butter and MCT oil all convert into what are called Ketones, an alternative source of fuel for your body, which is released at a substantially slower rate, and offers up several cognitive enhancing benefits.

Not only will you feel a slight brain-buzz with all the added fats, you will be able to sustain your energy levels for a much longer period of time, and focus on the task at hand from the reduction in appetite.
