Chronic Underachievement is a thing. The research has been going on for years, but has only recently been released; a couple of years after The Homework Trap was published right when I was graduating college. As a writer, names are pretty important to me (one rabbi wrote a whole book about how naming a child is one of the last remaining forms of true prophecy).

When I discovered the idea of being homework trapped, it was a huge relief.
