The Untold Reason I Love Crochet Since I moved to Canada

Crochet became a bridge between Canada and Mexico that I can cross anytime to feel right at my grandma’s couch.

My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was about 10. Crochet has been in my life since then but it wasn’t till I moved to Canada that crochet became an essential part of my life.

Crochet became a bridge between Canada and Mexico that I can cross anytime to feel right at my grandma’s couch.

I love crochet, I really love the textile craft. I love designing new patterns and experimenting with novelty threads. I love learning about techniques. I love yarn. And most of all, I love sharing my love for crochet with my grandma. Every time I go to Mexico, or that happens that we get to have a videocall, crochet comes to the conversation.

Somehow crochet brings me closer to my grandma, to my family, to my roots in Mexico.

I remember when I learned how to make a magic circle in crochet. My grandma didn’t know this technique, she would make a circle differently. Then she asked me: How did you do it? — It was my time to pass knowledge to the master crocheter.
