Going live with a guest or multiple guests is 1) a great way to energize your broadcasts and 2) increase views since you can both multicast to all your social channels.

(If you’re not familiar, multicasting allows you to go live on Happs and simultaneously send your broadcast to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, etc. Learn more here.)

How to invite a guest to go live with you

1) Get invite link: Login to your account at Happs, copy the invite link (located on the left side of the screen), and send it to your guest(s). FYI invite links look like this: https://happs.tv/invite/@YourHappsUsername

2) Send link: Send that link to your guest(s) and tell them to sign up for Happs. When they join Happs is also a great time for them to set up their other social media accounts (e.g. YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, etc.) so your broadcast is multicast to all of them. You can also mention other best practices (e.g. use Chrome browser, close other tabs, etc.).

Here’s a sample email you can use as a template:

Excited to have you join me on my upcoming broadcast.

1) Sign up now at Happs, you can use this link…
https://happs.tv/invite/@YourHappsUsername

2) …and go to Settings (upper right pulldown menu) to authorize Happs to access your social media accounts. You can hook it up to your accounts on YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, etc. That way, our broadcast will reach the maximum amount of viewers.

3) You can use Happs on either a laptop (no download required, just login using the Google Chrome browser) or on your phone (download for iOS or Android). Your connection speed is crucial so try to close any other tabs/anything else that might slow down your connection speed.

3) Choose orientation: Also, let your guest(s) know if you’ll be filming in portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) mode. That way you won’t wind up with competing orientations. This setting can be changed by joining the Broadcast Studio, clicking on Settings (on the left side), and then selecting the correct Audience Program Orientation.

3) Set up broadcast: Now it’s time to set up your broadcast. Click “Go Live” and then click “Schedule an upcoming broadcast.” (You can also click “Create new broadcast” if you’re ready to go live immediately.) Once your guest(s) have created an account, you’ll be able to invite them to join the broadcast. (You won’t be able to invite them until they’ve created an account though.)

You can also choose whether they’re a Director (i.e. receive full admin controls over the broadcast) or a Participant. A Participant is a user that joins a broadcast and has little control over what is happening live during the show. A Director gets full control and can adjust all settings. Any user can be both a Participant and Director.

4) Promote your broadcast: Once your broadcast is created, it’s a good idea to get the word out so your potential viewers know you’ll be going live. Click the Share link at the bottom of your broadcast, post it wherever potential viewers might see it, and encourage your guests to do the same. There’s a handy graphic that you can use too:

5) Confirm your guests. It’s a good to idea to confirm your broadcast with your guest on the same day and encourage them to show up in the pre-live room a few minutes early so you can troubleshoot any audio/video issues that may arise.

Confirming our broadcast today at 4pm EST! I’ll show up at ~3:45pm in Happs so please show up around then and we can get everything set up before we go live at 4. Just click “Launch Broadcast Studio” to join the broadcast. Looking forward to it.

6) Meet your guests in the Pre-Live room. Work out any audio/video kinks before you go live. When you’re ready, just click the button in the upper right to start broadcasting.

7) Reach out if any questions. Also, feel free to encourage your guests to reach out to Happs support with any questions about getting set up. We’re at contact@happs.tv and always happy to help with the onboarding process.
