Talk show hosts are taking off on Happs. If you’re wanting to be an online Kimmel/Fallon/Colbert, here are ten tips to help you succeed:
- Pick a topic that fascinates you and your audience. Your passion will show through (and make it easier to sustain your show over the long haul).
- Research your audience to figure out what will work best for segments, topics, and style. Interact with commenters to get real-time feedback too.
- Define the show and its segments clearly so your guests and audience know what to expect.
- Invite interesting guests and friends to join you. Happs lets you have up to 7 guests at once. You can multistream to all of your their social channels too which is a great way to reach more viewers.
- Plan ahead. Work on your intro, prep good questions, do some research on the subject, pre-interview guests, etc. A little pre-production can go a long way.
- Consider a co-host. There’s a reason talk shows often feature sidekicks (think Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson). Just make sure you’ve got good chemistry and play off each other well.
- Multistream everywhere — Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, etc. — in order to maximize views. Here’s how.
- Establish a firm schedule and stick to it. Ideally, your viewers will start planning their schedules around your shows.
- Promote upcoming episodes on all your social channels and relevant forums. You might even want to run ads to promote your show.
