Talk show hosts are taking off on Happs. If you’re wanting to be an online Kimmel/Fallon/Colbert, here are ten tips to help you succeed:

  1. Pick a topic that fascinates you and your audience. Your passion will show through (and make it easier to sustain your show over the long haul).
  2. Research your audience to figure out what will work best for segments, topics, and style. Interact with commenters to get real-time feedback too.
  3. Define the show and its segments clearly so your guests and audience know what to expect.
  4. Invite interesting guests and friends to join you. Happs lets you have up to 7 guests at once. You can multistream to all of your their social channels too which is a great way to reach more viewers.
  5. Plan ahead. Work on your intro, prep good questions, do some research on the subject, pre-interview guests, etc. A little pre-production can go a long way.
  6. Consider a co-host. There’s a reason talk shows often feature sidekicks (think Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson). Just make sure you’ve got good chemistry and play off each other well.
  7. Multistream everywhere — Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, etc. — in order to maximize views. Here’s how.
  8. Establish a firm schedule and stick to it. Ideally, your viewers will start planning their schedules around your shows.
  9. Promote upcoming episodes on all your social channels and relevant forums. You might even want to run ads to promote your show.
  10. Learn all the ins and outs of the Happs Broadcast Studio. There are tons of neat features you can use to help your show stand out from the pack.
