Pay What You Want : Make Someone’s Day
When setting up our little startup, we really wanted to make sure that everyone could have access to making someones day. We were racking our brains, calculating costs, and trying to see how we could cut our spending to the bare minimum, and still not have it be a barrier….then we realised Pay What You Want is the answer!!!!
We first came across PWYW in Tom Morkes’ Medium Article, which was recommended by the fantastic Carlos & Lawrence at the Happy Startup School.
It immediately struck a chord with us. Tom describes it perfectly in the article, but the major reasons to go pay what you want is removing the barrier to entry, your top few % of clients contribute more, and it creates generosity…For us this was the perfect answer.
We could allow people to pay as little as £1 to make someones day, all we do is collect any of the small donations add them together until we can make up the amount needed to cover costs! Such a simple, but genius solution.
Now it doesn’t matter, even if you can’t afford to buy, you can nominate someone for free!
This means we can send more coffees (and teas), make more peoples days, and pay it forward that much more.
