How do you best generate sales or leads on your website? Well, outside of great copy, you need to lay out your content effectively to make sure your site visitors are seeing it.

6 Core Design & Layout Principles For Your Site’s Framework

1. We want to keep your company’s logo on the top left. Keep it consistency with other websites.
2. No more than 5 menu items on your top bar. The last item on your menu needs to be your call to action.
3. Put your value proposition high up on your home page (above the fold)
4. Include your CTA with your value proposition
5. Add a search feature into your header (if you have lots of content on your site)
6. Social media icons in the footer

4 Design Principles You Want To Follow:

  1. Keep branding consistent across your site and social media
  2. Leave plenty of whitespace
  3. Remove sliders and carousels. All they do is bloat your site.
  4. Use color contrast and different fonts or font sizes to emphasize your key points

14 Best Practices For Design, Layouts & Content

  1. Organize and simplify the content
  2. Design each page with a specific goal in mind
  3. Ensure your site and pages are designed for your target audience
  4. Guide easy decision making within your site
  5. CTAs throughout your content
  6. Build specific pages for channels you are buying on i.e. Build specific uncluttered, action focused pages for PPC
  7. Add breadcrumbs to your site so your users can click back to where they started from (easy navigation) i.e. Home | Blog | Website Design
  8. Mobile first design
  9. Fast loading times
  10. Easy navigation
  11. Track and record your visitors
  12. Have plenty of ways for your visitors to contact you
  13. Compress your images and use real people in your images
  14. Use minimalism for your designs

These tips, tricks and best practices are not always easy to implement especially if you are not a frontend web designer.
