HARA is often praised for having the potential of revolutionizing the food and agriculture sector and creating a real social impact for smallholder farmers around the world. With HARA CEO Regi Wahyu being dubbed an Ashoka Fellow, that praise now also extends itself to the company’s visionary founder.

Ashoka is an international organization that aims to build and cultivate a community of social entrepreneurs that will collaborate to transform worldwide institutions and cultures for the good of society. The organization identifies and supports the world’s leading social entrepreneurs and mobilizes them into a global community.

“It is really a great honor to become an Ashoka Fellow through the work we at HARA are doing for the smallholder farmers in Indonesia and abroad. I really look forward to start connecting with the other social entrepreneurs in the network to help create a real social impact for millions of people.” — Regi Wahyu, HARA CEO and Ashoka Fellow

The Ashoka Fellowship is the core of the Ashoka organization. During its entire existence, Ashoka has worked on nurturing the largest network of social entrepreneurs in the world.

Since its founding in 1981, Ashoka has grown to become a community of over 3500 Fellows across more than 90 countries, forming a diverse and vibrant ecosystem of change makers working on a positive transformation of the world.

But not anyone can become an Ashoka Fellow. Nominees will have to go through a rigorous selection process before they are inducted into the life-long fellowship.

“I have known Regi Wahyu for a long time, and Regi has a mission for data transparency for farmers. Until now in Indonesia, the size of farmers’ land has never been accurate. Many farmers don’t even know the size of their land. I’ve been following what Regi is building. For me, Regi is a professional with integrity.” — Masril Koto, Ashoka fellow since 2011

Famous Ashoka Fellows

Ashoka Fellows are the world’s leading social entrepreneurs and the impact their work create is felt all around the globe. In fact, Ashoka states that a majority of their Fellows change national-level systems within 10 years of their induction.

Among the ranks of Ashoka Fellows are big names like Kailash Satyarthi. The international figure in fighting for children’s rights shares the Nobel Peace Prize 2014 with Malala Yousafzai. He became an Ashoka Fellow in 1993.

However, not only does becoming an Ashoka Fellow open up a global network of social entrepreneurs, it also allows you to tap into Ashoka’s bigger network of schools, universities, corporations, and other partners.

This new network will help HARA’s goal of educating people about the potential of blockchain technology, especially when it is linked to the Endeavour Entrepeneur network that Regi was already part of, which focuses on large scale impact business.

“Regi combines technology with social impact, this is something unique and not a lot of companies are doing this. The mission of HARA is to empower people in agriculture, to create agripreneurs, and create more sustainable income for bottom of the pyramid.

“Endeavor entrepreneurs are businesses minds who create growth and large-scale impact business. Together with Ashoka we can make a social impact at the same time and create more value with a higher impact.” — Hendy Setiono, fellow Endeavour entrepreneur
