This September was filled with big events, visits, and exciting developments. From Werner Vogels, VP & CTO of Amazon, visiting the HARA office, to establishing new partnerships and expanding our deployments — read on to revisit some of this month’s highlights.

DEPLOYMENT

Verified land polygon measurements doubled

In September, the total amount of land polygons we measured has more than doubled. As of this month, HARA field agents have measured a total of 7278 verified land polygons. The total amount of farmers in the HARA ecosystem has grown as well, but not as explosively as it did last month. By mostly finalizing the data collection of current deployments, the total on-boarded farmers has grown to 8048, hailing from 212 villages.

A bit of data can have a big impact

Through a story from our deployment team, we illustrated how collecting just a bit of data enables HARA to help smallholder farmers make a big improvements. This serves as an example of one of the ways in which we aim to empower billions of smallholder farmers around the globe.

EVENTS

Amazon VP & CTO visits HARA

Amazon CTO Werner Vogels shares a laugh with Regi Wahyu (HARA CEO) and Imron Zuhri (HARA CTO)

We had the pleasure of hosting the VP & CTO of Amazon, Werner Vogels, as one of his first stops in Jakarta. In the days prior to coming to our offices, Vogels had met up with president Jokowi and gave a key-note speech at the AWS Startup Day, where our CTO Imron Zuhri was also a featured speaker. Following a day in the office, Vogels’ was given a demonstration on how HARA’s technology is being put into practice in the rice fields near Bogor.

HARA gives workshop for Indonesian Ministry

HARA had the unique opportunity to share and facilitate a workshop for the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing on the topic of disruptive technology for affordable housing. The workshop revolved around how we can help people on the bottom of pyramid to get affordable housing, and how technology can accelerate making the process. The World Bank gave its full support to the workshop, where more than 200 people attended from different sectors like the Financial Services Authority (OJK), banks, developers, and the ministry itself.

PARTNERSHIPS

Partnership with IJHOP4 (JICA)

The Indonesia and Japan Horticulture Public-Private-Partnerships Project (IJHOP4) is a technical cooperation project assisted by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). JICA is the Japanese governmental agency that coordinates the country’s official development assistance.

“Not only will HARA’s data allow farmers to access finance, it has the potential to help farmers better manage their agriculture activities and connect with new markets,” — Akiko Yoneyama, consultant at JICA.

Partnership with BridgeX

BridgeX Network is the framework for a financial ecosystem of decentralised credit, conversion, and payment solutions. Through their service, BridgeX Network will help facilitate the conversion between crypto and fiat currencies in the HARA ecosystem.

The collaboration will help bring many unbanked people on board and help them get access to the services they need to improve their quality of life.

Parntership with Hexa Agro

HEXA Agro is a wholesaler of agricultural products. HEXA Agro functions as the off-taker in a closed loop farming ecosystem that they themselves established in the Tojo Una-Una Regency, Central Sulawesi.

The ecosystem ensures a fair price for the farmers’ yield, while helping them get access to the microcredit Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) to support their business.

ADVISORS

Dr Ginting is a blockchain promoter in the service industry. Ginting will assist in the growth of HARA with his expertise in outreach activities. As an advisor, he will mostly focus on helping build the HARA community and engage with blockchain and agriculture industry experts and business leaders.

Koji Shima is the CEO of Paw Mark Japan, and President Commissioner of PT Amalgamated Tricor. Shima has over 30 years of experience in international trade, retail sales, and investments in America, Europe and Southeast Asia. With his investment experience around the world, Shima advises HARA Token how to approach new investors in the blockchain world.
