Upward Bound!! For You?

The Trio Century College Upward Bound program is for students starting at freshman year, and also after 8th grade if you sign up early. I know that you’re probably thinking that it’s a college program so they might be SUPER strict, but no. This program also gives the students free time and have fun. We go on many college trips and even out of state over the summer. Upward Bound has a summer program where we polish up our skills in core subjects and learn more cultures and their languages, so we don’t lose the skills we learned over the school year during summer break.

This program focuses on our skills too, leadership, inquiry, etc. You could say they work on our skills leading up to senior year when it’s time to focus on colleges and scholarships. We do a World Savvy project each year for freshman and sophomores, where we do a group research project on a topic. Doing that helped me work better with groups like cooperating and communicating better with each other and also helped me improve my researching skills. It is a great program and the advisers are always there when you need help on anything, school, jobs, and of course College!! Is Upward Bound for you? I believe it is for everyone.
