On the 30th of July, we had the second meetup of the Hackaday Hardware Lagos, formerly called the Hackaday Meetup Lagos. The name change reflecting a broader theme other than hacking hardware, which is the aim of Hackaday — the name sponsor.
This meetup was the first planned meetup of the group with actual sessions. The first Moving from Arduino to PCB was given by Temi Aiyelari of FlowByte, the second Hardware Business Models given by Henry Obinugwu (Founder and CEO of VNTS) and the third Prototyping on a Budget given by myself. The decks are available here.
The sessions were as interactive as possible and participants got a chance to have an open floor after the sessions, with suggestions on what can make the group much better. One of those suggestions was to create a (constantly updated) list of hardware service providers in Nigeria, a list has been drawn up and is online. It’s a comment-only link, so if you’d like to add a service provider to it, please let me know.
We had a fuller house than the first time, with Ifedayo Oladapo (GRIT Systems), Shehu Umar (Spectra Wireless), the guys from iJAQ Technologies, and Silas Okwoche with Sheriff Shittu returning.
All in all, it was a dope affair. Big thanks to Webcoupers (our host, for the beautiful office) and Verola Foods (for refreshments).
