New York, NY — June 11, 2024 — The Hip Hop Film Festival is excited to announce Tobias Truvillion as the official ambassador for the 9th Annual Hip Hop Film Festival.

In addition to his ambassadorial role, Tobias Truvillion will also serve as the celebrity host for one of the festival’s main events, ACT UP! at The Apollo, taking place August 15, 2024 at 6pm (et). HHFF’s ACT UP! program bridges the gap between film and theater by presenting screenplay reads in a theatrical setting.

Tobias Truvillion, renowned for his impressive career in television, film, and theater, will bring his dynamic presence and passion for storytelling to the festival. “I’m honored to serve as ambassador to a festival that represents the culture that has helped raise me, the Hip Hop Film Festival,” says Tobias. “It is important for platforms like this to exist in order to genuinely highlight the contribution of Hip Hop Culture in today’s society.”

As ambassador, he will champion the festival’s mission to celebrate and elevate hip hop culture through film. His role as the celebrity host for ACT UP! promises to add an extra layer of excitement and engagement to this unique event.

About Tobias Truvillion:

Tobias Truvillion is an Award-Winning Actor and former Ford Model from Queens, New York. He currently resides in Newark, NJ. He received an NAACP Image Award nomination for an “Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.” He is most recently known for his work on The Best Man Final Chapters & The First Wives Club.

There is a bevy of shows you may have recently seen him on: The Equalizer, East New York, New Amsterdam, Queens, East New York, FBI Most Wanted, The Resident, Chicago PD, to name a few. In May 2023, he was featured as the Leading Man in Richard and Tina Knowles Lawson’s film, Black Terror in Cannes Film Festival, France. In 2022/23 Tobias starred as the Leading Man in the following films: Sanctioning Evil, Equal Standard, To Her With Love, and Aurora. In 2024, he was the leading man in the feature film “The First Lady of BMF”, which which received 2 NAACP Image Award nominations this past season. Also, his film “He Looked Like a Post Card”, Directed by Qasim Basir, premiered at the American Black Film Festival 2024 as an Official Selection.

Tobias teaches acting workshops and aside from the film and television world, Tobias is hailed for the work he is doing for the community as a health and wellness enthusiast.
