The Harmony Survey: Part 1

The Harmony Survey Results are in and have been elegantly presented by Tim from Cryptolyze.online into a 26 page summary. It’s worth going back in time and contextualising this survey in terms of where sentiment was at when we launched it. Not good. Not good at all.
Context
The team successfully concluded the IEO on Binance, delivered mainnet after which the market proceeded to sell-off fast amplified by a powerful upward move from Bitcoin. This led to an avalanche of criticism and negative sentiment revolving around our perceived lack of momentum, distrust in the team and a general mistrust of Launchpad projects in general. You were calling for new exchanges, better partnerships, more room to express yourselves publicly and for less BBQ. There was also a huge amount of what appeared to be orchestrated FUD designed to put pressure on the team and the community. All of which combined to weigh heavily on all involved.
First, let me say this. We hear you. All of us have been in your position at some point in our crypto journey. It sucks. The market is brutal and unforgiving and it affects everything. It can probably feel as though we don’t care or we’re not sensitive to it’s important to understand that we absolutely do. We just CAN’T talk about it. Not publicly. The SEC is going to play an incredibly important role in shaping the next 18 months and we’re very aware of the need to be on the right side of that discussion.
Secondly, let’s also put some perspective on all of this. It takes a few seconds to post a comment in telegram. But it takes way longer to parse the correct response and sometimes way longer than that to deliver a well-considered solution. While you were unhappy we were already hard at work getting ready to deliver fixing stuff but there’s always a lag. Hopefully that’s clear now.
With the benefit of hindsight many of the learnings from this survey will look markedly different. Pangaea, Bitmax, more foundational nodes and of course the news of our consideration by Coinbase. You didn’t know about any of this while you were taking us to task. But now you do, would you frame your responses any differently?
Moving forward
The timing of the survey was actually perfect, capturing what will hopefully be the ATL of sentiment around the project. With this we can establish a baseline and… well, let’s not ever go there again. That’s for us but it’s also for you as our community. With Pangaea and with more initiatives ahead of us there’s increasingly space for you to take ownership of pieces of the eco-system and play a larger role in its development. Hopefully with this survey, presented as it is, warts and all, you’ll feel encouraged to stick with us as we evolve. That sentiment obviously came out in some of the more colourful responses…

Working through the raw data I was surprised by the length of some of the answers. One community member from France clearly spent a long, long time articulating a whole host of thoughts which I found incredibly helpful and made a special point of sharing with the whole team. I would invite that community member to DM me so we can talk further. Thanks for taking so much time to do that.
Tim provides some good takeouts particularly surrounding the impact of negative sentiment but cautions that there’s still work to be done. In the next post I will dig further into the survey and begin to address some of that work.
