Welcome

Welcome back my fellow Harmonauts and thanks for reading this week’s edition of The Harmony ONEWeekly. This week, we bring to you some new and exciting updates from across the Harmony blockchain. We have an update from Harmony’s Founder, Stephen Tse, multiple announcements from ecosystem DApp’s as well as infrastructure improvements.

You can also catch this content on our YouTube channel as well. Don’t forget to like and subscribe to the channel, and follow Harmony on Medium for more weekly newsletters!.

Let’s begin!

The community heard from Harmony founder, Stephen Tse, who recapped a 2022 mid-year review of our roadmap. On the technical side, Stephen outlined the scalability of our cross-shard messaging, the launch of our upcoming Trustless Ethereum Bridge, our Elastic Network RPC services, and staking contracts with Metamask.

Furthermore, Stephen reflected on Harmony’s ZKproof research and their improvements to the groundwork and grant requirements for decentralized organizations. These improvements are based on the feedback from our community and the team is actively working to incorporate this into their review process.

We have four ecosystem updates to recap for our readers today. We get an update on Cosmic Universe’s gameplay, pet development in Defi Kingdoms, a sneak peak into Kart Racing Leagues playable racers and the reveal of Wonder Game’s launch trailer. So let’s check out these updates from each respective platform.

Cosmic Universe

The first demo for the upcoming Harmony-native online fantasy game, Cosmic Universe, was released this week and received great feedback from the community. In the single player demo, players can explore the world of Cosmic Island and take part in an introductory quest.

Players have the option to download a standalone Windows client or play the demo in their web browser.

Cosmic Universe is still in alpha development, and you can follow their process on Twitter as well as their Discord.

DeFi Kingdoms

Our next update comes from the GameFi powerhouse at Defi Kingdoms. The team released their highly anticipated Hatchery expansion. Allowing players to incubate their in-game eggs and hatch them into unique pets to accompany their heroes along their journey in Serendale.

Over the next several months players will be able to incubate all rarities of eggs and grow their pets for exciting and mysterious abilities coming in future updates.

Incubation is accomplished via both time and in-game resources to bring the player’s egg to the stage of revealing the pet hiding within, bringing more unique use cases for quest foraged items as well as gold and Jewel.

We have already seen hundreds of adorable and even downright scary combinations birthed from the hatchery and look forward to seeing higher rarity eggs hatch over the coming months.

Find out more about how to hatch your eggs, by following the links in the Hatchery Docs as well as upcoming news from their socials like Discord or Twitter.

Kart Racing League

We have received some previews of new race tracks from XYZZY’s upcoming Kart Racing League title launching later this year on Harmony.

Competitions will take racers across the universe, as they race through various courses infused with nature, space and time. Each track will bring new obstacles and abilities that are maximized by Kart drivers, allowing each player to approach tracks with different styles of play.

The team behind Kart Racing League has previewed their star roster of drivers, allowing the community to get a first glimpse of the five heroes who are inspired by elements of nature.

Each character will feature gameplay modifiers that incentivize players to become skilled with all Heroes across the various tracks, where their skills will truly shine.

Over the next few months, more details will be released as development continues and we approach the launch of the Kart Racing League during Quarter 4 of this year. We look forward to sharing more exciting news from our partner XYZZY.

Wonder Game

Wonder Game is a DeFi game launching on the Harmony and ICE blockchains. Using the ICON bridge, players can mint their NFT characters on ICE and seamlessly have them reside on Harmony. Minting can be done using Harmony ONE or ICX.

There are 3 Character NFTs you can mint: Cards, Queen, and Alice. Players will be able to explore, camp, steal, and craft while using the in-game token, SHROOM.

The team behind Wonder Game released a launch trailer showcasing a preview of gameplay and interesting in-game mechanics. You can follow the Wonder Game team on Twitter keep up with the latest news as they continue development.

Router Protocol Integration

Router Protocol announced the integration of Harmony into its native supported blockchains. Users will see further improvements in cross-chain bridging, as Harmony will have access to move assets to newly connected sites such as Arbitrum and Optimism.

In addition to expanding Harmony’s bridging capabilities, users will be able to experience a simpler bridging process across multiple blockchains as well as improvements for games that incorporate cross-chain NFT’s and tokens.

This integration is one of many that realize the vision for Harmony to be a bridge to all chains, and provide seamless integration with networks worldwide.

You can learn more about the technical aspects of Router Protocol by reviewing their documentation found below, we’re excited to see how developers utilize Router Protocol over the coming months ahead.

Protocol Updates

Harmony rolled out a new binary for Mainnet, version 4.3.9, on May 27th. RPC node runners will receive updates on a number of functions which you can find on our Github.

We are also pleased to announce our Elastic RPC is now in production and is handling 100% of the archival RPC traffic on Shard zero. The team is currently testing the elastic infrastructure on 10% of standard traffic on Shard zero. Developers discovered a defect in the process of this test which is currently being resolved. Stay tuned, more to come on this feature which helps scale Harmony’s RPC network to the next level.

Our community has requested a Harmony multi-sig wallet and we’re happy to announce that feature is now available. You can check out the multi-sig wallet at multisig.harmony.one. Note that our multi-sig wallet is in the process of a major update to resolve a handful of defects, and we’ll make sure to follow up with more information as the new multi-sig wallet is deployed.

Trustless Ethereum Bridge relayer incentives are currently under development by Harmony’s smart contract and bridge developer Bruce Darcy. The team is also in the process of developing new interfaces for both the Trustless BTC Bridge as well as the Horizon Bridge. The Horizon bridge will be ported into the Trustless Ethereum Bridge upon launch, and tokens will automatically be available on its trustless counterpart.
