It has been quite the lively week this week! Just barely into life for 7 epochs, the Open Staking chain is already vibrant with both developments, and developers. Probably the biggest news, was that we now have a new guru in the marketing department! John “Sandy” Sanderson, previously at STORJ, the first to have implemented a money making model based on decentralized storage. An amazing addition to our team!
It has happened. Binance has arrived… to the dismay of some, but I pose this question — Does it have to be a bad thing? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for decentralization. I’m just not ready to throw in the towel and head for the hills. I will explain myself in a future article, and show how whether you’re all for Binance, or want to boogie on out and get away from what looks like the mother of all centralization… you would be best served to give it a moment, and see what develops. Sandy is a breath of fresh air. Up to this point, the core team has been busting their butts, working to make a small business work, as it blows up to a much larger organization! Until now, the core team has been missing that marketing magician… The person who can set a spark under that powderkeg, waiting to explode. Time will tell whether or not Sandy is that hero, but after speaking with him on the weekly call yesterday, I am confident that he will bring about some great changes! Keep in mind, this is his first week. He hasn’t fully developed his plan for world domination yet, so let’s give him some time to create!
The call this week was another great one. Sandy was introduced to the community, and was met with a bombardment of questions! Some notable answers gave us insight into who he is, and where he wants to go with Harmony. His specialty is niche marketing, which is good… because it doesn’t get any more niche than being a blockchain startup! He recently helped another startup STORJ greatly increase their market awareness, and helped build them into the
“first decentralized cloud storage product that generates revenue” — Sandy
I will go into more depth on my thoughts about Binance entering the Tokenomics and potential governance in a future article, but I definitely wanted to give a glimpse of the possibility. Binance held the IEO for Harmony on their exchange. They are major backers and investors… How could you think that anything else is going to happen? With their attention, Harmony is validated, to a degree. Binance wouldn’t waste their time on a garbage project. With binance comes more attention, then developers as they realize how amazing our chain is… and now we have use case, along with more users. This leads to more decentralization. A final bit of news for you… Next week is Harmony’s Birthday! MainNet will officially be 1 year old on June 1st, and I heard that there will be some huge information, so keep an eye out for a PSA! I cant believe that in ONE year, we have gone from just barely launching a sharded network… to being the first EVER, to have Open Staking on top of it. I’m not sure what the final state of blockchain will look like in 5 years, but the hardworking team of Harmony is definitely the right one to get us there!
