Growing your number of donors is always a struggle that nonprofits and organizations are faced with. It can seem as if your circle will never grow, but here are some helpful tips to help you expand.

1. Networking

People are much more willing and likely to donate when asked to do so by people that they know personally. A huge part of creating a larger donor circle is having an easy way to get current donors to reach out to future donors (their friends and family). However, donors want it to be effortless and easy; anything difficult is an immediate turn off. An easy fix can be something as simple as adding in a button to connect to Facebook, helping boost your number of donors for your nonprofit.

2. Target Audience

Who is your target audience? Teenagers? Middle age working parents? Whoever your audience may be, make sure your ads and newsletters reflect this audience. If you send a dull colored ad to millennials, for instance, they will likely pass over it without a second glance. Connect with your target audience. Know what they like. Instead of a mundane ad for teenagers, opt for a colorful ad, perhaps linking your Instagram account, etc. If you have multiple ages, etc. that you are trying to reach, create multiple ads for the different groups because evidently, they will be drawn to different aspects.

3. Emphasize the Outcomes

It’s easy to feel disconnected from charities. Donors will put in their credit card information, give money, and then never hear from the charity again. This creates one time donors instead of recurring donors. Making sure to keep them updated on what their donations are going towards makes them feel as if they are truly making a difference. When a donor actually feels a connection with the charity, they are more likely to share it with their friends and family, again helping to network and increase the number of donors.

These three tips are easy ways to ensure a growing circle of donors. It doesn’t always have to be a hard and extravagant journey to get more people onboard with your nonprofit.
