“Bela Sheshe”- as clichéd as it may sound, the significance of this name and how perfectly it depicts the environment of the place, can only be understood if you visit it. A dozen words and a couple of pictures fall short in capturing the true life of the space. A corner where the day’s highs are relished and lows are let go.

Situated right at the entrance of Mirpur DOHS, those who have not been caught up with the name “Bela Sheshe”, know the place as Shagufta. It is not one of those places that can be put into a category. It is not reserved for the elitists, neither has it been seized by the nomads. It is a place where you could feel like you belonged, regardless of your profession, or what your attire represents, because in that place you’re the same as everyone around you, someone who is looking for some great, great food. Under the open sky, this is the perfect place to bite away all your life problems and take a much needed break.

A number of small food stalls lines up to form the food haven. Each cart offers their unique arsenal of flavors. The items that these carts serve range from drinks to sandwiches and subs all the way to grilled chicken, fish and parathas. They have something for anyone and everyone.

People from all walks of life, after having finished whatever work they had, dust themselves off and start pouring in for a delicious end to their busy day. Being at a walking distance from a thriving residential area and two universities, MIST and BUP, you can expect to see a lot of locals and students gathering to eat at the food court. The surge of people keep increasing as time passes and is at its peak at 7. On one side of the road, there are cars and bikes everywhere, people getting down from rickshaws attempting to find empty seats and on the other side there are numerous “tongs” and smaller stalls serving arguably one of the best “fuchka” and “chotpoti” in town. The atmosphere of the place plays a massive role in the huge number of customers flowing in; the banter, the red umbrellas, the friendly faces, the running-for-cover when it rains and the shared laughter when most get soaked; it is just a place like no other.

Chillers, one of the very first food joints of the “Bela Sheshe” food court, has managed to become extremely popular for its chilled drinks - a quite appetizing justice to its name, eh? Among others, SubHub is popular for its scrumptious wedges and sub sandwiches. Their wedges, especially, are a huge hit. You should consider yourself lucky, if you go after 9 and get your hands on some of those them. “Hungry?” is another stall at the food court, known for serving juicy and mouth-watering burgers.

Know what all the craze is about, try it for yourself!
