He’s finally done it folks! After scoring 12 points in a 119–95 loss to the Houston Rockets last night, Chandler Parsons now has 126 points compared with 120 Instagram posts since signing with the Memphis Grizzlies on July 1, 2016.

Congrats to Chandler Parsons!! I’m sure there are other players in the NBA who still have yet to accomplish this feat in the 2016–17 season — but Parsons is, by far, the most captivating social media follow and highest paid player amongst those with that distinction. And Chandler, if this article ever gets back to you, just remember — Jealously is the greatest form of flattery.

When I wrote the original article, I figured this would be a short-lived phenomenon — however, a couple of unforeseen factors contributed this streak lasting more than half of the NBA season:

  • Parsons’ nagging injuries have only allowed him to play in 19 of the Grizzlies’ 46 games — which is too bad because a healthy Parsons would make the Grizzlies a pseudo-contender in the West;
  • Parsons is currently on a per game minutes-restriction (approximately 20 minutes/game); and, most importantly
  • Parsons’ relentless Instagram posting made this a Sisyphus-like endeavor.

Now that Mr. Parsons finally has this monkey off his back, I’m glad he can focus on some new aspirations for the rest of 2017, such as:

  • Getting spotted hanging out with as many beautiful celebrities as possible — like Kate Beckinsale and Kendall Jenner (in the same week, no less);
  • Losing his virginity (according to Joel Embiid); and
(SB Nation/Facebook)
  • Jumpstarting the Johnny Manziel rehabilitation project.
