🚨Brace yourself for the Petya ransomware, The Fifth Elephant Pune meetup & conference updates

The HasGeek Newsletter ✉️ — June 28th

Hello hello! 👋🏽

How’s your week going?

Just when companies (and individuals) think they have survived WannaCry, this week announced the arrival of Petya ransomware. Is InfoSec requiring more attention than it got earlier?

What’s happening at our end?

‘Papers We Love’ Open House at HasGeek house🏠 with Lakshman Prasad

This Friday, we’re trying a new format at our Open House. Lakshman Prasad, a data science enthusiast, will lead a discussion around this paper:

There is a study that gave the same data set to many teams competent to analyze it and asked them all the same question: whether soccer referees are more likely to give red cards to dark skin toned players than light skin toned players?

The Fifth Elephant Pune meetup on 8 July

On Saturday, 8 July, we’re putting together a meetup and workshop at Wingify’s office in Pune. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow data science enthusiasts and individuals who work on interesting data engineering and analytics projects.

Harshad Saykhedkar, head of data science at Sokrati, will conduct a workshop on ‘introduction to recommendation systems with Python’. You can read more about his workshop here: https://fifthelephant.talkfunnel.com/pune-meetup-2017/1-introduction-to-recommendation-systems-with-python
