Lis Wonder: Giving Voice, Essence & Heart to Izzy, our Lead Protagonist.
What your experience has been working with Hashbane?
Working with Hashbane has been such an amazing experience. The team and I share the same passion for gaming and dinosaurs and it shows in our relationship.
What is your role at Hashbane?
Currently I voice the main character — Izzy, and we’re working on a few other things that are yet to be announced.
What inspired your career?
My career has been a work in progress and everyday I wake up and discover something new and exciting. I started with cosplay and now I am working with one of the biggest upcoming video games.
What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on besides Instinction?
To be completely honest, Instinction is the coolest and most interesting project I have ever worked on. I never thought I’d be in a video game and the fact that I’ll be able to play it with my family for years to come knowing that I’m in it is amazing to me.
What’s your passion outside of work?
My family. All of my love and energy outside of work goes to them.
What’s your favorite music genre?
Bossanova always soothes me. I even play it in the background when I am trying to be productive.
What accomplishment are you most proud of, personally or professionally?
Personally, I am so proud raising two beautiful children; this has been the biggest accomplishment of my life! Professionally, it has been using cosplay to build a strong community that shares my same passion.
What’s something you hope to achieve in the future?
Being able to work “on the go” and travel with my family doing what I love.
What’s something surprising people may not know about you?
I speak fluent Russian.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
To always give and never expect anything in return.
What’s something you wish you had more time for?
Myself! I am a giver and all my energy always goes to everyone around me.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
To never doubt yourself and what you are capable of. If you let people instill doubt and fear, you will not get too far.
What are some notable projects/companies you’ve worked with?
I have worked with many companies in the past, but my favorites were: Warner Brothers, Disney Plus, Amazon, and Reebok.
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I was born in Cuba, grew up in Russia and now live in Miami, Florida USA.
What’s your favorite travel destination and why?
I love any destination that has tall mountains! I love to stare at them and feel almost like they are embracing me and protecting me.
Do you have any pets, and can you tell us about them?
I have two dogs, Mili and Trooper. They are both rescue dogs. Mili is 7 years old and she is a lab terrier mix. Trooper is 8 years old and he is a border collie lab mix. They both love to swim!
What’s an interesting fact or hobby about you?
I really enjoy playing golf! The best parts of golf are the nature around you when you’re playing and that you are able to play it even at an old age.
What’s your favorite film or TV show, and why?
I love the Jurassic Park / World franchise so much! I was into dinosaurs at a young age and I remember when the first Jurassic Park movie came out that it legitimately traumatized me. The effects of that movie are still top notch and unmatched, even against newer films.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I changed my mind all the time; that is why I ended up with the safe choice of a business degree from my university. The older I get, the better I get to know myself. Life is slowly taking me where I am meant to be.
What’s a career highlight of yours?
I was able to work with Clay Enos & Vero True Social on a photoshoot of myself as Wonder Woman fighting Stormtroopers. It was one of the most amazing experiences ever, and I got to travel to New York for it. We traveled to Chicago for C2E2 Comic-Con afterwards and did an exclusive signing. It is still a very surreal highlight of my career.
What was a big hurdle you had to overcome in your career?
When I first started cosplay, I had a photographer tell me that if I did not show “skin” I was never going to make it anywhere. I made it my cosplay goal to prove to young girls and boys that you do not need to do that to “make it.” You are in charge of the path you take to be successful.
What are your favorite video games?
Tomb Raider was always my favorite game! I used to play it on an old computer at my mom’s job after school. That’s why I am even more excited about Instinction and the fact that Cameron Suey, who was the narrative designer for Rise of the Tomb Raider, is the writer of the game! It is going to be so epic!
If you could be any dinosaur, which would you be and why?
I think I would pick an Ankylosaurus because of the armor and that super strong tail.
