beerpay.io released — A way to monetize open source projects
The funding issue
Open source is growing exponentially in the last years, that’s a fact to celebrate. However, until now, the big problem for developers has always been the funding issue: You need money to live and, most of the times, you get by working for proprietary software projects. Beerpay comes to fill that gap, between making open source and making a living.https://beerpay.io/projects

The platform
Beerpay.io is made by and for developers. The platform allows people to automatically import the projects they choose directly from their Github account, which is a must-have to use the platform. After importing the projects, they will appear on a list of projects, with the possibility to view them also by user, very similar to Github. The idea is to make open source projects visible and generate the support of other developers.
Wishes and supporters
People can view projects on Beerpay and decide to “make a wish”: a request for the project owner to change a functionality, parts of the design, customize something, or anything else that the project owner can do to make the project useful to the wish maker. Wishes include a monetary incentive, and other developers can join — or “support” — a wish by adding more money to the request. The project owner can accept or decline the wish. If declined, he/she can explain the reason of the rejection and give the wish maker the possibility to adapt his/her wish. If accepted, the project owner has a specific amount of time to deliver the changes and collect his/her money.
The people behind it
Hashdog is an argentinean software factory who believes in the power of the open source. We’ve been around for 10 years making software, like a collaborative code editor for remote teams to work simultaneously on code, calledscrapfy.io, free to use, with no installation required; And a MEAN, fullstack, JavaScript framework called DoggerJSfor anyone to download.
