The Importance of building a Developer Community
Just as Oxford Dictionary has laid out above, all communities I’ve ever been a part of, from friends to professional networking groups, online and in the real world, revolved around common interests, personal passions, and even locations.
If it were not for communities, you’d probably not be reading this right now. Coming around nearly 2 million years ago, hunter-gatherer cavemen went on to bond together in communities through the common interests of working, wellbeing and general all-around survival.
Even today it is hard to think of a community without thinking about the people, their bonds and what it is that brings them together. Whether it was the necessity to stay alive from which civilization sprung up from, meetup.com gatherings or Facebook groups, like-minded people have and always will band together. People forming communities are in consensus with each other to help and further a common goal that’s important to every one of them.

Without high-cost barriers associated with proprietary tech, open source projects and their public collaboration have been key to their innovation and effectiveness.
There’s really no point in calling yourself open source if no-one is actually developing on your protocol (outside of yourself or the people you pay).
Successful projects like Ruby on Rails and Node.js are used by developers to build websites and applications and are amongst GitHub’s most widely used frameworks. Essentially open source has risen to mainstream use because of the dynamic changes in play when there’s a global community who is building something together.
50,000 developers each month signed up to use Ethereum throughout 2018, as the mass-appeal of the platform’s tools are known across the developed world. Rather than be an outright alternative to traditional pre-blockchain systems, Ethereum and its tools, made developers realize how to better them.
Since the announcement in 2014, Ethereum was one of the first platforms to build out a simple toolset to make sure that users were acquainted and could connect easily with.
And as tools at the time usually guaranteed nothing more than unstable connectivity to blockchains this gave developers even more reason to get on Ethereum.
Some of the solutions that simply worked for developers using the network included Infura, which provides the much sought after backend connectivity without giving away the keys (something a lot of companies should take note of).
Handling over 6 billion API requests per day and transferring roughly 1.6 petabytes of data per month, it’s clear to see the benefits that tools like Infura gives developers and the distributed computing platforms they choose to work on.
Another tool that’s made Ethereum as easily as possible to use is MetaMask (which by the way uses Infura’s APIs to connect applications to the network). Initially, MetaMask provided a good-enough way to identify yourself via a website and launch and run Ethereum dApps in your browser without the need to run a full node.
