All Set for the Web3 Wave — The Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023

Co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and HashKey Group, and organised by W3ME, the Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023 will take place from April 12 to 15.

HONG KONG, April 6, 2023 — The Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023 is a celebration that brings together the leaders, technology, projects, and capital in the global Web3 industry, and serves as a platform for exploring Web3 technology and accelerating industry development. The mega Web3 event will feature one main stage and four sub-stages covering various technology fields for building the Web3 world, and offering attendees the most cutting-edge technology, in-depth industry insights, and broadest business opportunities.

The festival will open on the morning of April 12 at the main stage, with the attendance of government officials such as following.

These distinguished government officials, regulatory representatives, and industry leaders will jointly attend the opening ceremony, marking the start of this exciting event. And Dr. XIAO Feng, Chairman and CEO of Wanxiang Blockchain and Chairman of HashKey Group, will deliver a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony.

Main Stage: Tokenisation — From Virtual Assets to Physical Assets

The main stage will host six major sessions over the next four days, starting with “What’s Next for Virtual Assets” after the opening ceremony. The other five sessions will cover themes such as “Web3 Infrastructure,” “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Metaverse: NFT & GameFi,” “Bitcoin Ecosystem: Technology and Development,” “Ethereum Ecosystem,” and “The Future of Tokenisation.” These sessions will explore various hot topics such as Web3 underlying technology, applications, virtual assets, metaverse, and tokenisation, providing participants with an unprecedented Web3 journey.

The “Metaverse: NFT & GameFi” session will be hosted by the organisers in collaboration with Parrot, while the “Ethereum Ecosystem” session will be hosted in collaboration with SNZ.

In addition to industry professionals participating in each session and sharing their views on Web3 technology development and industry trends, renowned guests such as Neal Stephenson, author of Snow Crash; Sara Mao, Programme Director, Christie’s Education Asia Pacific; singer/composer/producer, Hanjin Chen, and Angela Mackay, Managing Director of Asia Pacific for the Financial Times, will also participate and share their insights on the application and innovation of the metaverse from different perspectives.

Furthermore, at the “Bitcoin Ecosystem” session, Dr. XIAO Feng, Chairman and CEO of Wanxiang Blockchain and Chairman of HashKey Group, will host the launch ceremony of the Green Bitcoin Alliance and release the “Bitcoin Hashing Power Carbon Neutrality Application” at the event. Participants who subscribe to green certificates or participate in the interactive game “Green Giant” will have the opportunity to receive green airdrops. Additionally, the “Web3 New Economy and Tokenisation” white paper will be released at the “Tokenising the Future” session. The white paper will discuss the prospect of tokenising all values from the underlying logic and evolutionary trends of Web3 and explore issues such as monetary policy and mechanism design involved in token economics.

Sub-stage 1: Web3 Developments — From Integration to Innovations

On the afternoon of April 12th, Sub-stage 1 will host a discussion on Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) and privacy computing technology to explore the potential of AIGC in the new paradigm revolution led by Web3. The session is hosted by the organisers in collaboration with Datayes, AWS, and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). On April 13th, Sub-stage 1 will also feature the “Layer 2 & Ecosystem: Scaling Up Web 3.0” session, inviting representatives from well-known Layer2 and ZK projects to share their progress and prospects for the future development and opportunities of the Layer2 and ZK fields. The forum is hosted by the organizers in collaboration with SNZ.

From April 14th to 15th, the Web3.0 Demo Day jointly organised by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs, HashKey Group, with Cyberport as the supporting partner, will gather a group of emerging Web3 projects to showcase the latest developments in Web3 applications, inspiring innovation and accelerating the development of a sustainable Web3 ecosystem.

Sub-stage 2: The New Web3 Wave in Hong Kong

Since last year, the Hong Kong SAR Government has issued multiple favourable policies for the development of virtual assets and the Web3 industry, making Hong Kong the new focus of the Web3 world. Under a series of friendly policies, how will Hong Kong’s Web3 industry develop moving forward? On the afternoon of April 12th, Sub-stage 2 will host the “Hong Kong’s New Developments in Web3: The Evolution and Integration from Web2 to Web3” session, delving into the opportunities for the development of Hong Kong’s Web3 ecosystem. The session is hosted by the organisers in collaboration with Hash Global, North Beta Capital, AliCloud, and Cyberport.

Financial infrastructure is the backbone for the financial system in the Web3 era. On the mornings and afternoon of April 13th, Sub-stage 2 will feature two major sessions on DeFi and Digital Wallet and DID, exploring how to build a better Web3 financial system. The “Digital Wallet and DID” session is co-hosted by the organisers and imToken. On the morning of April 15th, the “Cross-Chain” session, jointly hosted by the organisers and Bianjie Global, will explore the global cross-chain ecosystem and latest technology trends as the industry moves forward to build a globally interconnected, interoperable Web3 network. In the afternoon of April 15th, Sub-stage 2 will host the Ethereum Ecosystem Workshop in collaboration with SNZ, focusing on key issues about the development of the Ethereum ecosystem.

Sub-stage 3: Mass Application and Future Prospects of Web3

Major sessions on the sub-stage 3 include “Digital Finance Frontiers and Cross-border Trade” (afternoon of April 12th), “DePIN — Web3 & Physical Infrastructure Networks” (morning of April 13th), “ ReFi: Net Zero Web3” (afternoon of April 13th), “The Future of Web3” (afternoon of April 14th), and “Web3 Security” (morning of April 15th), focusing on exploring how the innovations of Web3 technology and its applications in practical social and economic life. Meanwhile, speakers will also share their perspectives on the future development trends and security solutions of Web3.

The “Digital Finance Frontiers and Cross-Border Trade” session is hosted in collaboration with SignalPlus. On the other hand, the “Renewable Finance (ReFi): Net Zero Web3” and “The Future of Web3” sessions are jointly hosted by arkreen and the organisers. The “Web3 Security” session is jointly hosted by the organisers and SharkTeam.

At the “DePIN: Web3 & Physical Infrastructure Networks” session, HashKey Group will launch the “Web3 DePIN Hong Kong Initiative” together with arkreen, aiming to jointly promote the development of the DePIN ecosystem in Hong Kong with project builders, investment institutions, and the hardware industry.

On the sub-stage 4, attendees will have the opportunity to gain deep insights into topics such as “DeSoc: SBT, DAO, and SocialFi”, “Node Validator as a Service”, and “Global Payment in Web3”, and witness the latest developments of Web3 in social and payment fields in the decentralised world.

The “DeSoc: SBT, DAO, and SocialFi” session will be hosted in collaboration with Mask Network. The “Node Validator as a Service” session will be jointly hosted by HashQuark and the organisers. Also, the “Global Payment in Web3” session will be jointly hosted by PlatON and the organisers.

The Open Stage of the Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023 will not only be a showcase for NFT projects, but also a gathering place for trendy culture. Famous artists such as Issue Wang and Ms. Annie Yi will also be present. Through the Open Stage, audiences can gain a close understanding of the development process and creative inspiration behind NFT and metaverse projects and engage with project teams. This serves as a valuable opportunity for everyone to know the latest developments in the Web3 world and the know-how to build an NFT ecosystem.

The inaugural Hong Kong Web3 Festival (12–15 April) is a virtual asset-focused conference co-hosted by the HashKey Group and Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and organised by W3ME at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
