Do you remember what it was like when you first found interest in computing? On a recent episode of the Hashmap on Tap podcast, AB Periasamy, Co-Founder and CEO at MinIO, discusses that very feeling (and thinking it was possible to learn everything about it) with host Kelly Kohlleffel.
MinIO is a high-performance, S3 compatible multi-cloud object storage that is software-defined, 100% open-source, and native to Kubernetes. Before starting MinIO, AB co-founded Gluster, which was later acquired by RedHat. AB is also an angel investor and advisor to a range of companies including Starburst, H2O.ai, Manetu, Humio, and Yugabyte.
On tap for this episode is Mexican Coffee from La Lucha for AB, and Nespresso Mexico for Kelly. Fun fact — both AB and Kelly are able to sip on coffee at any time without having to worry about staying up all night.
While drinking their coffees, AB and Kelly expand more on what it was like for AB to get started with computers and how fascinating it was for him to be able to tell the computer to do something, then watch it do just that. Of course, there will be moments where this doesn’t quite work out as easily as he’d hope, so he does touch on the importance of continuous rapid prototyping.
