Pizza Hut to accept Bitcoin in Venezuela

A famous U.S.-based pizza chain has begun accepting cryptocurrency payments in all its stores in Venezuela. Fast food chains like Burger King and Church’s Chicken already accept crypto payments in the South American nation.

Pizza Hut is now accepting cryptocurrency payments at all locations in Venezuela through a partnership with crypto payments startup Cryptobuyer.

All Pizza Hut locations in Venezuela now accept a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including BTC, via the Cryptobuyer payment platform. Pizza Hut joins Burger King, Intercontinental Hotel, Traki and a number of other major retailers in Venezuela that accept crypto.

The announcement says that among the coins accepted at Pizza Hut there are BTC, ETH, DASH, LTC, BNB, USDT, DAI and Cryptobuyer’s own token, XPT. Pizza Hut’s restaurants are located in Caracas, Maracay, Maracaibo and Barquisimeto. There are three places in Caracas — El Sambil, El Recreo, Lider, Caurimare and Las Mercedes.

In June, Cryptobuyer announced that Venezuelans will be able to pay for goods and services in cryptocurrency in more than 20 000 shops across the country. This was made possible by the integration of Cyptobuyer Pay into the Merchant Server platform of Mega Soft. Mega Soft is a major payment system in Venezuela, processing an average of 18 million transactions per month.

Cryptobuyer previously explained that shops using Merchant Server can accept over 100 cryptos thanks to the company’s alliance with the Japanese crypto exchange Liquid. Sellers can either automatically calculate their cryptocurrency payments in fiat currency or store coins in their accounts. Shops currently using Cryptobuyer Pay include Burger King, Intercontinental Hotel and Traki, the largest department stores’ chain in Venezuela.
